McLean pleased to be division’s leading scorer
McLean went into Saturday’s match with 200 points from 20 games so far this season and touched down twice and kicked four conversions in Worthing’s 33-11 win over Southend to move on to 218 points.
McLean is delighted to be the leading scorer in the division but was quick to praise his team-mates for the haul.

Hide AdHe said: “It’s obviously really pleasing to see your name at the top of the points scoring charts.
“We started the season very slowly but we have picked up in recent weeks and the boys are getting the tries, which is allowing me to kick the points.
“I’ve also managed to chip in with a few tries of my own along the way, so it’s been good from my point of view.”
Raiders’ latest success saw them move up to fourth in the National 2 South table but McLean felt his side’s success over Southend was not as comfortable as the scoreline suggests.

Hide AdHe added: “It was quite a tricky game and we got out of the blocks fairly slowly.
“Having the week off last week, with our game at Bishop’s Stortford being postponed, gave us the opportunity to get some extra preparation in for this one.
“But, after such a comprehensive win against Lydney the week before that, we wanted to keep the momentum going.
“It took a while for us to get started but, fortunately, we achieved the victory in the end.”
