The Lancing bowler won the top prize at Beach House Park for the second consecutive year on Saturday to pocket the £1,500 cash pot. Hubbard overcame Chris Young in the final with a 21-12 triumph as the fifth annual two-week event reached its climax. He had previously overcome Jon Wilson 21-13 in the semi-finals, while Young had beaten Ahilio Ciampini 21-19. It was the first time runner-up Young had competed in a Worthing open for 12 years – his last appearance was before the Unified Open was formed – when he won the singles crown in 2001. There was success for Barry Starks, Adam White and Gary Starks in the triples, with their 16-14 win against Chris Jones, Jeff O’Leary and Joe Stevens in the final.
