They had their highest finish and most points in League Two since their return to it in 2015 and a A higher PPG ratio than last season.
They beat Leeds United in the 3rd round of the FA Cup and sold a player for £1 million.
Here, our reporters Sam Morton and Jack Butler have put their heads together to rate the Reds players throughout the season.

1. Glenn Morris 10
A fantastic season for Morris, who seems to be getting better with age. Kept an impressive 12 clean sheets to level the fourth-tier record and made the most saves (137) across League Two. Absolute class.
2. Stuart Nelson 6
Signed in November and has been a very good back-up to Glenn Morris. Mostly, appeared in the cup competitions, but Nelson adds another experienced head to the dressing-room.
3. George Francomb 8
Starred in midfield, but also did well when used at right-back and even left-back. His best and worst moments came against Bolton Wanderers. Winner in the away match, but sent-off on the final-day. A disappointing end to what was a decent first season as skipper.
4. Archie Davies 7
Certainly the more attacking option at right-back. Adds pace, and can cross a ball when venturing forwards. Have to remember he is only 22 and that there is plenty more to come from the ex-Brighton youngster.
