At last! Bognor squash aces taste long-awaited success
After a run of losses, Bognor’s second team took advantage of a home match to record their first win for over a month, against Storrington seconds.
George Meaby, again stepping in as a junior, chalked up his first competitive win at this level when he took on Daryl Farmer.

Hide AdMeaby rushed into a 2-0 lead, was hauled back in the third by Farmer, but kept his nerve for a 3-1 victory – 9-1, 9-2, 9-10, 9-6.
Fourth string for Bognor was Jon Burley, who was unfortunate to lose 3-1 to Paul Kearsley after taking the frst game. Kearsley just had the edge in two close games and levelled scores at 1-1 after a pulsating fourth game to win 6-9, 1-8, 9-4, 10-9.
Alex Burrows put the home team back in front after a close-fought match with Perry Lewis, coming back form a 2-0 deficit with a great display, particularly in the last two games which could have gone either way.
The score was 8-9, 6-9, 9-5, 10-8, 9-7.
Bognor second string Dave Meagher had to fight hard for the first game which he won 10-8, but the effort was in vain as Littlehampton’s Colin Buck came back to take the next three 9-3, 9-7, 9-7.

Hide AdThe decisive match was at first string and Bognor’s Paul Butcher made no mistake against Dave Holbrook as he won in relative ease 9-3, 9-2, 9-0 to secure the win and bonus points for Bognor.
Bognor took 16 points, Storrington nine.
