Horsham’s usually bustling town centre stood perfectly silent out of respect to the town’s war dead.
The Carfax attracted its usual number of pedestrians who came out not to shop but to pay their respects to those who had given their lives.

Hide AdThe Royal British Legion Band provided the musical accompaniment as standard bearers marched into the Carfax shortly before 11am.
A wreath laying ceremony was followed by a two minute silence. The roundels on the war memorial were revealed for the first time shortly before midday.
Meanwhile children at Broadbridge Heath Free church playgroup had a surprise as their library grew by £100 of donated books. The pupils were thrilled and were excited to get stuck into the new reading material.
Elsewhere Rudgwick’s new Traidcraft Christmas shop was promoting fair trade.
Christine Gimber, who took on the project hoped to raise at least £3,000 and increase awareness of trading fairly with the Third World.
