Witness appeal after burglars target Eastbourne church
The burglary occurred between midday on Sunday (April 24) and 6am the following morning. Thieves got in through a side window overlooking a narrow alleyway and then broke in to the Minister’s office.
A green metal safe containing church records was removed. Cupboards throughout the building were ransacked and a small amount of cash was stolen. The offenders left via a fire exit.

Hide AdPC Tom Thorpe, of the Eastbourne Police neighbourhood response team, said, “The stolen safe would have needed at least two people to lift it.
“And given the damage caused inside the building it is likely a lot of noise would have been made. We’d like to know if any witnesses were about in the Greenfield Road area who may be able to help with our investigation.”
Anyone with information is asked to email [email protected] or phone 101, quoting serial 122 of 25/04.
