SUSSEX DECIDES: Tyrie keeps Chichester Conservative
The Conservative candidate has held the Chichester seat since 1997 and his triumph was expected — the only doubt was whether the rise of UKIP would steal his majority.
However, it was ultimately a disappointing night for UKIP who finished well behind with 8,540 votes to Mr Tyrie’s 32,953.

Mr Tyrie spoke at a hustings at Chichester Cathedral the night before the election, saying his key priority was maintaining A&E services at St Richard’s Hospital for the next five years.
As the Chichester MP of 18 years, this latest win looks set to him holding the same seat for 23 years, assuming the next election is not until 2020.
The election turnout was 68.7 per cent, a drop of one per cent from 2010.
