Not my idea of good night out! But, braving the frosty night air, we were pleasantly surprised and soon became suitably engaged with the superb cast, costumes and scenery of Stage Door’s latest production – Annie.
It was a fun filled romp through the American Depression years with the overbearing Miss Hannigan, ruling the children of the orphanage under her care with a rod of iron.

Of course he melts from Annie’s sweet and feisty nature, and uses his ‘friends in high places’ to locate Annie’s real parents – offering a huge reward.
Through the evil intervention of her ‘supposedly’ real parents – slimily played by Barry Tinkler and Emily Millard – the truth was revealed – Annie’s real parents had passed away – ahhhhhhhhh.
But now Annie has a new parent as Warbuck wishes to adopt her. Celebrating with all her new family and orphanage friends on a resplendent Christmas morning at her new warm and comfortable home.
It was indeed an early Christmas gift of a show.
