In response to letters in the Herald from David Easey (August 11) and Nathalie Hadjiftiou (August 4), the Worthing Bypass Not A27 Throughpass Residents' Action Group would like Highways England to give consideration to providing Worthing with a proper relief road around Worthing and Lancing via the A280 Long Furlong, A24 and A283 existing roads which already need improvement.

The A280 Long Furlong is often closed due to accidents and improving it would make it safer. We haven’t seen any costings for why this route is not being considered.

Highways England commissioned a Canadian Property services company – Parsons Brinkerhoff – to investigate and provide a feasibility report on solutions with most value for money for road improvements along the A27 corridor.
