The report says there are far-reaching advantages in reviving the disused seven miles between Lewes and Uckfield as part of a new rail corridor between London and the Sussex coast.
A spokesman for the Wealden Line Campaign said: 'We believe the sustained clamour to have the route re-opened cannot be ignored any longer.
'It has already been too long in the offing and risks verging on a political farce, given the prevarication and dithering of the past couple of decades.'
