Roger Sanders, 80, who lives in Cooden, Bexhill, received the first dose of the Pfizer BioNTech vaccine at the Sidley Medical Practice on Wednesday (January 13).
After hearing stories of people queuing in the rain from friends who live elsewhere in England, Roger said he was initially cautious ahead of his appointment.

He said: “I just had my vaccine in the 80-year-old category. Sidley Medical Practice is doing a wonderful job.
“They get through an amazing number of people every single day. Despite that, they were so lovely and kind. As are the superb volunteers who are there around the clock.
“I have been in contact with people in other areas who have told stories about people queuing in the rain for a few hours. But it was not like that in Bexhill at all. It was so professional.”

“There might be problems elsewhere but the professionals and the amateurs at the Sidley Medical Practice are all pulling together.
“I couldn’t really believe my eyes when I saw how well organised it was. It was wonderful.”
The Sidley Medical Practice is currently offering vaccines to people who are registered with one of the following practices: Collington Surgery; Little Common Surgery; Pebsham Surgery; and Sidley Medical Practice.
People aged 70 and above are due to be offered their first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine this week, according to Prime Minister Boris Johnson.
