Paper refuse and recycling calendars will not be sent to Eastbourne residents

Bin tags include a reminder for leaving bins out, what to do with real Christmas trees and information for garden waste customers.
The labels invite residents to visit the website for all the information they need on waste and recycling collections in 2021.

Hide AdAnyone wanting a reminder of their next refuse or recycling bin collection day can find this out by visiting the council website lewes-eastbourne.gov.uk
And an Eastbourne council spokesperson said although the council will not be sending paper calendars anymore, calendars will be available to download from the council website.
The council’s Jonathan Dow said, “Our brilliant Environment First teams will be taking care of all the household waste and recycling this Christmas, as they always do.
“We’ve decided it makes most sense for the environment, and council finances, not to send a calendar to more than 45,000 local homes this year.”

Hide AdEastbourne Borough Council declared a climate emergency in 2019 and has set a target of 2030 for the town to be carbon neutral.
Councillor Dow said, “We are examining every facet of the council’s operations for limiting carbon emissions. There will be more changes and adjustments in our services to achieve our 2030 target and not printing thousands of calendars is an obvious and sensible step to take.”
